Task Thirteen - Genre Research One

These are just some of the images that can be associcated with the Alternate genre. As you can see there are a mix of colours and images that have been used, this is because the genre is a big genre that has many sub genres within it.

From this i can see that there is not a particular font style that is used through out the genre. Something that is the same for most of them is that the bands are usually made up of all males. However there are some bands that have at least one girl in them. E.G Paramore.

We decided that we wanted our band to be like Paramore and so we decided to have one girl in our band and the rest are boys. By doing this we could define the band and define the girl more as well. With our band defined more we would have more interest.

Hayley Williams from Paramore has made a name for her self in Paramore as the lead singer of Paramore, from this she has dueted with other up and coming artists from other genres of music such as B.O.B and others.

Hayley appeals to people as her image is different and she is the only girl in a predominatly boy band. After looking at Hayley, when creating my band I will use a girl that has the same persona as she has. I also will hopefully find a girl that has a different hair style to the girls in society . This will make her look different and stand out.

Task Eleven- Theories- Goodwin Theory

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc6vs-l5dkc

The above link is for the a video by Panic! At The Disco-I Write Sins Not Tragedies. This video illustrates the lyrics well. The song talks about a wedding and the video shows them at a wedding.

This shows two of Goodwins theories, Illustrate and Disjunture. It is Illustrative in that the lyrics talk about a wedding and the Mise-en-scene shows them at a wedding. However the wedding is different to as it is the people in the video are wearing random costumes.
The people in the videos have face paint that makes them stand out.

Task Seven- Michael Buble- Everything

Task Six- Switchfoot- Dare you to Move

Task Five- California Girls- Katy Perry ft Snoop Dogg

This video definitely fits the genre of Pop, this is because the Mise-en-scene is bright and pink something that would relate to the audience that for this may be young children because of their fondness for bright colors or sweets but also to an older audience because it has a deeper meaning to it. Something that an older more promiscuous age of audience would understand.
The promiscuity is shown through the costumes in the videos at one point she is lying on a cloud wearing nothing.

This video has not really influenced our music video in the imagery, but it has shown us that we can make different links with our audience.

Task Four - 3OH!3- My First Kiss

Task Three- Scouting For Girls- Famous

I liked this music video because it is different to most videos, it uses Goodwins theory of amplification. The video shows images of relevant links between the song and the images that we the audience see. Therefore the video spells out what the lyrics say and mean.

I also like the video because it relates to me the older student, who is moving away from home and will be living with friends, this link between the target audience and the video really attracts the audience and therefore makes it more successful. It also has an old feel to it, a 90's fill where people were making home made video with the massive cameras and the old keyboards. This may remind the target audience of their childhood creating a deeper link between the audience and the band.

Media Effects and Shots

Media effects and shots.

Fig Rig- this is used to create swooping movements, it also helps to create more flowing movements. By using the fig rig you can create a lot more movements and the camera will not be shaking, so it will create a perfect shot.

Lighting- Use of spotlights and natural lighting. Use of lots of shadows. An idea would be to film the sky for twenty minutes by doing this you could speed up the footage.

Mise-en-scene- take pictures of the locations.
